Having read five books to date in Elle Cosimano's Finlay Donovan series (Finlay Donovan Is Killing It, Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead, Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, Finlay Donovan Digs Her Own Grave), I can say that the first two hold a special, laugh-out-loud place in my heart, but they are all must-reads for mystery lovers, and I can’t wait for the sixth to come out. The sheer genius of an accidental assassin navigating single parenthood with sticky fingers and dirty diapers—what any parent or child caregiver will instantly recognize and hilariously relate to— is a comedic goldmine. Picture this: our protagonist, Finlay, having to rearrange child car seats to accommodate a dead body in her minivan. These riotous situations, all while she’s trying to solve a crime and clear herself, or others, are what make the series a delight to read.
